James E. Lyons

Jim has been with the firm since graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 1972. He has been an owner of the firm for over 30 years, and currently serves as President of Greenawalt & Company, P.C.

In addition to working with numerous commercial business and individual clients, Jim has experience with financial institutions and school districts. On financial institutions, he advanced from entry level assignments, up through complete control of accounting, auditing and income tax services on various types of financial institutions, some with assets in the hundreds of millions of dollars. He has also worked with several local school districts, and is currently responsible for auditing three school districts. Those districts have assets and operating budgets in the tens of millions of dollars. 

He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Business Manager (CBM). His professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and an associate member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Pennsylvania (GFOA-PA).

Jim’s major community involvement is through his local Lions Club, in which he has held various leadership positions. He has previously served as Treasurer for the District Lions Club organization. He has also served on the governing body of his church, and currently serves on the board of UCC Homes, a non-profit health and welfare organization. Jim is also a board member of The Bank of Landisburg, his hometown independent community bank.
